Eligibility

Who it's for

Early-stage companies developing a technology-driven product or service with commercial application. Any company may apply; demand is high, so teams founded by University of Maryland, College Park students, faculty, or staff are prioritized.

Before you can be accepted, two things must be true:

1

Your founding team has completed the UMD I-Corps program (and, where possible, the NSF I-Corps Teams program). Not started – completed.

2

You hold an intellectual-property license agreement with UM Ventures, College Park (formerly the Office of Technology Commercialization).

3

We expect you to join the program as a “freshman” and graduate about four years later. By graduation, a company is expected to have raised outside funding and be ready to move to commercial space. Licenses run year-to-year, renewed against milestones set with Mtech Ventures staff.
